I had recently seen a hoard of talk show episodes dedicated to anorexia and bulimea, and it was all old psychiatrists talking about how stupid and impressionable young anorexic girls are, and blaming the media, Barbie, and MTV. I doubted that it was as simple as that. Interested, I decided to do some research and discovered many websites on ana and mia that were created and run by the girls who have it, some of which were very beautiful and cool. It seems that a lot of them actually see it as becoming a more pure being, and I was very inspired by that. I wanted to make a film that they could relate to, instead of a precautionary After-School Special or Lifetime channel type movie.Below are a few HUGE caps from Pure. I have yet to finish the editing on this film, (I'm so sorry, Liya!), but it will happen eventually.
